Dear blogger friends,

I am sorry that I (mom of Mason) have not been around for over a year.

I have thought of all of you often and missed my time on here.

It is with a heavy heart that I share with you today the passing of my baby girl Mason Dixie.

At the very young age of 7 she developed quite a spell over a course of 2 weeks that in the end took her life. I did every thing the vet could think of

but alas it was too much for her to bare.

I will miss her morning kisses, her afternoon hugs, and the thump of her tail.

I will miss swimming at the lake, walks in the park and car rides together.

I will miss her sitting pretty for attention.

I will miss playing ball in the yard.

I will miss her love of snow.

I will miss her.

Be in peace my Mason Dixie

Frustration Gets The Best of Me

Today I had something very important to do so of course before I went I had to get a bath so I would not smell like my lake =)

Today was very frustrating at my first obedience class =(
Mom worked all week with me to learn "eye contact" and the word "yes"
We practiced by mom calling my name and when I looked she would say "yes" and I would get a treat. Then at feeding time I had to sit and "wait" and make "eye contact" until mom gave me the okay to eat my food. I learned "off" when I am getting up on things or humans when I should not be. I also had to watch mom's eyes in order to get a delicious treat from her hand that she had extended out to her side, and when I made "eye contact" and ignored the treats I received one!!
However, in class I payed no attention to mom at all!!! There was just so much going on.
Other puppies and humans and kids and treats........OH MY!!
How am I ever to just watch mom?
This week I have to learn "sit" "down" and "stand" while making the "eye contact" with my mom, and to do it without rewards!!
Does any one have any advise for my poor mom to get me to pay attention to her?

I feel as though I have let my mom down, please help us =)

I am not too sure about this view I am going to get,
I may be at a severe disadvantage to what is coming my way

Mom is leaving me alone with the BF for 5 Whole Days!!!
Even when I begged, I still do not get to go...........................

I tried to tell mom that this is all I need, my bed and a stuffie, I could even take a smaller stuffie if it was to much cargo.................

I even suggested that I can just eat the left overs and not bring my own food =)
No such luck. =(

So until her return I will be on the look out. Will you all help me wait for my mom?
This is going to be a long 5 days..............................................
til she returns..... I will be waiting.

Found out today that Honey is holding a slobber contest............so being as how I love to participate in all (or as many as I can) contests, here is my photo to join. =)

Liz here, wow 10 things about myself, and try to make them interesting.
Hmmmmmmmm.................................

I graduated from college with a degree in Criminal Justice and I do not use it.
I completely and utterly despise feet (except these feet)
I love to travel and have seen the grand canyon, Mount Rushmore, Niagara Falls, pikes peak, Devils tower, Wisconsin Dells, Yellow Stone National Park, Black Hills of S Dakota, the Gateway to the West in St Louis, Washington DC, Mile High Stadium in Denver, the Crazy Horse Memorial and many more places.
I love the smell of Mason's paws (well traveled) notice the paw placement.........
I used to have 7 aquariums going at one time
I love 4-wheeling and campfires
I am a workaholic being that in the past 11 years I have only missed 4 days of work.
I love taking naps on the couch with my Mason
Fall is my favorite time of year but Christmas is my favorite holiday.
and lastly this is my last year in the 20s and I am dreading it.

wow that was pretty tough, thanks for reading along my boring life. =)

Mom came home from work today with bags of grocery's!! Now you may
be wondering whats the big deal my mom does that all the time? Well
that is your mom, he he (do not tell her I said that).
Any who, it was chuck full of loads of different things, see she
was trying out a new recipe.
First she made a snack with fruits and dipping sauces.
I got my first taste of watermelon!! I see Maggie and Mitch always eating it
so with enough begging finally I got to taste what all the fuss was about.
Boy what a mess it made. BOL
So with out further ado, here is the montage of the preparation of
Skillet Gnocchi with Spinach and White Beans.

And of course the recipe if you are interested in making it. =)
(30 minutes from start to finish)
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil, divided

1 16-ounce package shelf-stable gnocchi (see Tip)
1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup water
6 cups chopped chard leaves (about 1 small bunch) or spinach
1 15-ounce can diced tomatoes with Italian seasonings
1 15-ounce can white beans, rinsed
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1/2 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup finely shredded Parmesan cheese

1. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add gnocchi and cook, stirring often, until plumped and starting to brown, 5 to 7 minutes. Transfer to a bowl.
2. Add the remaining 1 teaspoon oil and onion to the pan and cook, stirring, over medium heat, for 2 minutes. Stir in garlic and water. Cover and cook until the onion is soft, 4 to 6 minutes. Add chard (or spinach) and cook, stirring, until starting to wilt, 1 to 2 minutes. Stir in tomatoes, beans and pepper and bring to a simmer. Stir in the gnocchi and sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan. Cover and cook until the cheese is melted and the sauce is bubbling, about 3 minutes.

Oh and how are mom's plant doing you ask?

Her first 3 tomatoes and 2 peppers, which is a huge success for the mom. =)

side note: sorry I have been MIA lately summer is a hard time to keep up on every body and to keep up on my own blog. I am here and thinking of you, I am visiting as much as I can just may not always leave a comment. I hope to be back in full gear soon, when the time alots it. =)

Beware of the Dog

Upon entering a small country store, a stranger noticed a sign saying DANGER! BEWARE OF DOG! posted on the glass door. Inside a harmless old hound dog was asleep on the floor besides the cash register.

He asked the store manager, "Is that the dog folks are supposed to beware of?"

"Yep, that's him," he replied.

The amused stranger inquired, "That certainly doesn't look like a dangerous dog to me. Why in the world would you post that sign?"

The owner responded, "Because, before I posted that sign, people kept tripping over him."

Ha ha ha roll on floor laughing. =)

Monday Montage

Thank you every pup and kitty for the well wishes of my paw.

I hurt my paw while dock diving on Sunday, mom did not
realize it til we started to walk down the path and I
could not put weight on my paw.
She got all worried and was about to carry me, soaking wet and all,
but I walked through the pain.

I did however make quite the mess with the blood, but
mom was more worried about it not stopping.
She held me in her arms applying pressure til it stopped.

I have quite a gash on my big pad on left paw, limping a lot less today
but taking it easy. =)

And now the worry wart mom has a question.......
Liz here, Mason is shedding worse than I have ever seen her in
all her 5 years. One swipe of the brush and it is full.
Any suggestions? I brush her and bathe her and she swims a lot,
is there any thing else I can do?
is this really common?

HELP and now the Update

Mason cut her paw and it will not stop bleeding.

What to do.......................?

I think it has stopped finally......

After a cleaning, ice pressure, gauze wrap and a sock I think it has stopped.
So now I am going to rest here with my Alfie pillow until I feel better.
Mom says no yard playing or dock diving for a few days, how sad.
Thank you for the quick response to help with the bleeding. =)

Just Can Not Stop Me

Proving to mom that just because I am starting to get gray furs,
that I will not stop jumping, swimming and running. =)

Maybe one day I will be able to take off the leash and do some real jumping?

Wow can you believe I have been blogging for a year now?
I certainly can not. I remember starting up and thinking who is going
to read my blog? especially a Dog Blog?
and low and behold I have found all of you. =)

A new addition to the family came along in this month. A little
thing we now call Mavis.
September '08
This month I received one of my very first awards from Thor, and
it deserved a belly rub for sure.
October '08
Then came the fall leaves, it was a slow month for us then
and of course a new fall collar.

November '08
Then came the first snow fall of the year, and oh how I love the snow.

December '08
Christmas was most awesome this past year from the treats to family visiting
could not have asked for a better holiday.

January '09
I joined in my first round of Paw it Forward and became addicted to giving.
February '09
I got my first job with Eduardo in the mail room, I am unemployed
now so if any pup needs anything I have the time. =)

March '09
Most awesome month of the year, my Birthday month!!
and not only did I celebrate a mile stone of 5 years old this year, I was
chosen for an interview by the esteemed Bark Kent.

April '09
I held the wiggle walk contest, which Checkers won and was nominated for
post of the month at the Bone Zone, which I later won.
May '09
I learned all about dock diving for dogs and introduced another
new family member, Memphis.
June '09
I lost my job with Eduardo which freed up my time to perfect my dock
diving skills at the lake.
July '09
Which brings us to today.
I am one happy and lucky girl to have gotten to know all of you through out this past year. I could not have asked to have found better friends.
Thank you for making my blogging experience so wonderful and looking forward to a great 12 more months.

I am so sad to hear of the passing of Dakota and would like for all pups and cats out there to join me in a howling salute for our dear friend Dakota.
If you are not a howler like myself just post a pup that likes to howl.

I will be working on my howl, which may just be me barking crazy.
Please try and post this on Sunday June 28th and we will howl together in honor of the passing of one of our own. Dakota.

as a trick for Tuesdays with Ludo.

I am back finally!! It has been a long week not being able to do my normal day to day blogging.

First things first, have to make up for lost time with Eduardo.....

Mom took me to a new lake and this one has a dock...............

Here I am contemplating whether or not to jump in after my toy or go around like every other time.

If I keep waiting long enough the current just might bring it back close enough for me to just reach in and grab it.

Fine, I will go in after it now

and back up the boat ramp to do it all over again. =)

Today is my mom's birthday!!!!

Working for Eduardo the Snuggle Puggle today, but I did not do so well.

Today I had to model my new Collars from Tibby's mom. She has started up her
own site to sell collars, and mom ordered me 2.

Well needless to say I was not very cooperative today with the camera.

What did she expect it is thundering and raining outside.........I can not work in these conditions.

So bare with me and photographer, we tried for a good picture.

Will be working on it some more so I can sport the awesome collars in style. =)

Even with a treat I did not do well.

Mom went to meet her yesterday, with out me.

I have never been around a kitty and they want her to get a little used
to her new home before I introduce myself=)

Visiting the ever so perfect Zoe again.

Would you believe that she and I got in a fight?
Perfect Zoe did not allow me to play with her ball. =)

But all in all we got along.
Then I met this thing for my first time.............

Mom said I should not lick the cage because it was upsetting him.
I just wanted to see what it was, that is all.

Then Miss Mabel was visited, not by me this time but my mom and my Aunt.
Mabel had hurt her paw catching frisbee so mom was unable to play with
her this time around.

And of course little Miss Mavis was running around like a loon,
as usual.

Working On My Diet Tuesdays

First for the day I worked on some swimming and sand running.

Then I went for a 2 mile walk and chased squirrels.

And then I snuggled up in the car for a nap on the ride home. =)

Lately I have been receiving some surprise packages in the mail!
I am always so excited when mom brings in the mail.
And I got 3 unsuspected parcels!!

First one is from BUCKAROO BONES!

My next surprise was from my pal Trooper, he sends the most bestest
stuffies ever!!

It says "I love You" 3 times each time you bite on it.

And look at my new barrettes, he has good taste. =)

I have already put mine to use.

I do not see a need to track my treats, but mom says it is a must.
