My Pose

My infamous pose I can do for a very long time. Not only does it get me treats from the cupboard but it also gets me the attention I want from my mother.

My Nemises Mabel

My Aunt Mabel................ what can I say..............? Our relationship is quite one sided. She thinks she is the best thing since sliced bread and she lets you know it. From the way she struts around, to her barking demands and showing off with the frisbee. I could catch a frisbee, I just choose not to she can have that trick I have many of my own. Her silky black knot free fur, whatever she sheds more than me. Ha Ha. I try to have a good time with her when I am home visiting Grandma but she wants nothing to do with me. So be it. I am there to visit Grandma anyway, and she loves me. I look up to Mabel, but only because I am some what afraid of her, not intimadated, just scared she could get me alone. Not that I think she would hurt me or anything, but I would definately come back a different dog. So my hats off to Mabel, my Aunt, my mentor, my nemises.

The Crick

Oh how I love swimming in the crick on hot summer days. The cool water flowing beneath my paws, and the uncertainty of the rock bottom. I get to leap after sticks my owner throws in for me and it is such a rush. Not to brag or anything but I am something of a great swimmer. My favorite is going to the lake, jumping off the dock is such a thrill and I can jump pretty far. Maybe next time the leash will come off, one can only hope.

Fake Love

My owners boyfriend looks like he really likes me in this picture. Truth is........ he is turning my owner against me, I just know it. He tells her that he likes me but I know it is only to make my owner happy because she thinks I am the best and would not want anyone saying otherwise. I have been watching him and listening to everything he says about me. Down syndrome in dogs, he actually looked it up to see if I may have it!!!! He does a very poor impression of me that makes me look not so bright. I know his game and he is not going to win, I was here first and I do not back down. Yeah my owner might listen to him when he is around but as soon as he is gone it is all about the Mason. I am not going to try to impress this guy and give him the advantage, I am smarter than that.

Thunderstorms...... What are they?

Had a really bad storm today and I was left home alone to fend for myself. I really do not understand what is happening outside and it scares me. The loud booming and the bright flashes of light. What is happening? Does anyone really know? I hide in the bathroom with the door closed, not sure what else to do, but now the door is closed, how do I get out. Finally my owner comes home with that guy, we will call him Chris (a story for another day) and they say I have no reason to be scared. Like I am supposed to be like... oh ok what was I thinking I totally understand what is happening outside. Whatever. I just want protection. My owner tries to calm me down by petting me and giving me a treat, Chris tells me the thunder is going to get me I better hide. What is a dog to do.... Then it is over just as fast as it began, back to normal.

Ahh The SpaTreatment

Once a month I get to go to the spa and get groomed. It is such a wonderful day. I get to ride in the car and hang my head out the window and sniff all the wonderful things in the air. At the spa I get the royal treatment. A deep cleansing warm bath complete with a massage, my hair gets trimmed, my ears cleaned and the best part the brushing of the teeth. Oh how I love the feel of the bristles against my gum and the taste of the toothpaste is awesome. I am there for hours because I have to look perfect before I go home. Going to the spa is like going to Grandma's house I get to be a different dog for the day, I behave, but today for some reason my owner stayed to watch me. So I had to put on a show for her so that she would think I really did not want to be there. I pulled away from the groomer and slipped out of my collar, I WAS FREE, but she caught me. Then I jumped on each of the grooming tables to try and keep from going to the back. I made quite a show and I know my owner loved it, she was laughing so hard. Then she left and I just sat back and enjoyed my day at the spa.

All about ME

My name is Mason Dixie and yes I am a dog. In my opinion I am the best darn Golden Retriever there ever was. I live with my owner in a small apartment, we used to live in a big apartment with lots of land, but I guess that was not good enough had to move to the city. I love my "chew" toys handmade from my Grandma Billie, and anything that falls on the floor or thinks it might fall from the counter top. My owner/mother is a push over, I get what ever I want when ever I want and that is no joke. There are two other dogs in the family (the Aunts) but that is a story for another day. I tend to think anything that moves outside my patio door is out to get me and I must assert my lack of fear with my ferocious bark, leaves are the worst (I know they are real). I am four years old born on March 20th on a farm in the middle of Amish country. I love to travel and I collect collars.
